2006-08-18 [Evilmonk]: No salt, Deb, and you stop talking like that! All the entries were nothing short of stupendous. I won't hear any of you taking away from yourself. I am curious...if all the entrants were judges, how would you have voted on this? Think about it...not easy is it? At the end of the day our poor judges HAD to choose, and they did so, very begrudgingly, I might add. Moments where we get to better ourselves and what we do are so few and far between. This IS one of those moments. This isn't the only tournament. You are all expected to return and next time to use this mistake as a building block, so that when you do you might not falter. Those of us that did advance are learning nothing right now. Some of us yet have lessons to learn. To be an artist is to be humble. We expose little pieces of our soul to would be critics and it hurts when they don't approve. But not advancing should teach you to step back and really look at yourself and your art and say "what can I do better, next time?". Don't ever give up. Just learn from your misteps and try some more. You all have a wonderful work of art now because you posted an entry...isn't that something you never had before?
2006-08-18 [Mom]: Oh I am not giving up.I knew before I ever picked up my pencil that [Cia_mar] would beat me...I did my best. If i were a judge I would have voted for her...she is a fabulous graphite artist. So now I better go practice some more...XP

2006-08-18 [Cia_mar]: ah... it was all in the subjevt matter for me.. if we had had to do full bodies, or cities or evil villianous things.. i would have never compared no matter how you praise my skill with graphite *takes a moment to say thanks you for the compliment* because i do not draw those things well... i have no real imagination when it comes to the more linear/archete
2006-08-20 [Evilmonk]: I like what I am hearing here! Great sportsmanship guys. No-one has any reason to feel bad. Everyone had and still has some great competition. A random roll of the dice can give you subject matter you may not be comfortable drawing. Thats the idea. Leave that area of safety and grow artistically. Folks can really learn through defeat if they open their eyes. You guys are setting a high bar for yourselves and for future talent. Kudos to you! =)
